The Kentlands Community Players facilitates workshops as a means to raise funds for productions.

Information regarding upcoming offerings is below.

NatashaMirny is a stage director, choreographer, teaching artist, and founder of Happy Theater (www.happytheater.com). Her background is in pantomime, puppetry, and physical theater. She started her career as a stage director at one of the largest puppet theaters in Moscow, Russia. For the past five years Natasha has devised and directed nine shows for children from 0 to 7 years old. Her last show for young audiences, created for Arts On The Horizon in Alexandria, VA, got a Helen Hayes Award Recommendation in June 2018. She is currently working as teaching artist at several theaters and educational programs in Washington DC –Imagination Stage, Synetic Theatre, Inner City Inner Child, and Wolf Trap.

Voice Training

Dates: March 10, March 17, and March 24; 5-6:30 PM

Location: Kentlands Carriage House 321 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Cost: $30 for drop-in (please email to register 24 hours in advance), $75 for series

Description:

This workshop uses vocal training and movement to help participants achieve greater vocal control, range, and clarity. Learn from accomplished choreographer, performer, director, professor, and founder of Happy Theater Company, Natasha Mirny to:

  • Achieve better vocal control, breath control, and vocal range and resonance
  • Notice you are not out of breath when speaking
  • Feel that the body is more free and alive - freedom of body and movement leads to vocal freedom
  • Learn some fun exercises to do at home

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat or towel. No experience needed. Space is limited. Please email workshops@kcplayers.org - to sign up for this workshop.
